I thought the CBC Radio 3 podcast was ending, but new episodes are still coming out so that's incorrect.

From 'Knowing What's Nice'
by Kurt Vonnegut
November 6, 2003

"Do you know what a Humanist is? I am honorary president of the American Humanist Association, having succeeded the late, great science fiction writer Isaac Asimov in that functionless capacity. We Humanists try to behave well without any expectation of rewards or punishments in an afterlife. We serve as best we can the only abstraction with which we have any real familiarity, which is our community.

We had a memorial services for Isaac a few years back, and at one point I said, ''Isaac is up in Heaven now.'' It was the funniest thing I could have said to a group of Humanists. I rolled them in the aisles. It was several minutes before order could be restored. And if I should ever die, God forbid, I hope you will say, ''Kurt is up in Heaven now.'' That's my favorite joke."

Within the past hour a B-17 and a B-24 flew over my house. Those aircraft and a B-25 are visiting KAUS this weekend and are taking passengers for flights.

Alex is back from Boston now. She had a nice conference up there, and Kristiana and I had a nice week too. On Saturday we went to the IBM Spring Festival where she got a balloon animal and a bag of candy. The event was overattended so it was far too crowded to really have fun there. After that we went to a birthday party at a fire station and she got to see the fire engines and meet the firemen. I hadn't been to a fire station since I was in grade school, so I enjoyed that too.

The TiVo that I bought a little over a year ago died last week too, so I got that replaced. The new one has an ethernet port built in, but the front panel does't light up like the old one.
