Hello,
I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Upon arriving here my dimensional warp
generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers
to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. I am going
to need a new DWG unit, prefereably the rechargeable AMD wrist watch model
with the GRC79 induction motor, four I80200 warp stabilizers, 512GB of SRAM and
the menu driven GUI with front panel XID display.
I will take whatever model you have in stock, as long as its received
certification for being safe on carbon based life forms.
In terms of payment:
I dont have any Galactic Credits left. Payment can be made in platinum gold or
2003 currency upon safe delivery of unit. Please transport unit in either a
brown paper bag or box to below coordinates on Sunday July 27th at (exactly
3:00pm) Eastern Stand Time. If you miss this timeframe please email me.
42.4845467 & Longitude -71.1576157 and the ground is 101.3' above sea level.
Although those coordinates are a secure guarded area, these channels through
email are never secure. Unfortunately it is the only form of communication I
have right now. There is a good chance that sombody will try to redirect the
signal. The unit must be teleported directly in a way
that nobody will be able to interfere with the transference.
After unit has been sent please email me at: info@federalfundingprogram.com
with payment instructions. Do not reply directly back to this email.
Thank You

From a post on Slashdot:
smbclient -L $IP_ADDRESS
where $IP_ADDRESS is the address of the computer that spammed you.
If you're in luck, you'll find yourself connecting to a Windows computer. It'll ask you for a password. Hit enter. If you're still in luck, it will list the available shares, and a list of server names. Pick a server name. If there are more than one, try each one ;)
Now, download and compile 'smbdie'. Search for it on google. Run:
smbdie -i $IP_ADDRESS -p 139 -t $SERVER_NAME
where $SERVER_NAME is the server name you just picked from smbclient's output ( above ). If you are still in luck, you will have rebooted the spammer's computer ( it blue-screens ), and maybe even caused some data loss.

The dogs had an adventure just now. I was in the family room working and
the front door blew open. The dogs got out and were running around the
neighborhood for about 10 minutes. My neighbor Mark came over and told me
that Pepper was running around in front of his house, so I rounded Pepper
up. I went back to look for Darwin and didn't find him, so I checked the
house again and Darwin was sitting by the front door. It was hot and he wanted
to be let in.

Alex and I came to an agreement yesterday on the name. She gets to
use her choice, but with a 'K' as the first letter. So, the baby's full
name will be Kristiana Angelitha Draper. My father's name just didn't work
out at all. Neither Mervin nor James lend themselves to naming a girl,
so I had to switch to my mother's name.

There's a new term floating around. It's meant to refer to how the soldiers
in Iraq feel about having their chains yanked. They have repeatedly been
given orders to come home, and then the orders were cancelled. So they
are stuck in a country that doesn't seem to want them there, and apparently
is organizing a guerilla defense. So now some people are saying that our
own soldiers are getting "Dixie Chicked", since they are now questioning
why they are still in Iraq.

I've been looking up some names. Jamie is a diminutive version of James, not
a feminine version. The feminine version of James is Jamesina, which I don't
like very much. The Hawaiian version of Patrick is Pakelika, which I like
a lot. Our baby may be named Christiana Pakelika Draper, but I have to
make an agreement with Alex. If I can pick the middle name, she gets to pick
the first name. If she doesn't like that, then perhaps we'll use Angelitha to
turn that into a traditional family name. The next step is to make sure that
there are no unpleasant acronyms formed by the initials CPD. Unfortunately,
the use of my mother's name would form the initials CAD.

People here in Austin are pretty excited about hurricane Claudette that will
be hitting our area this afternoon. I expect that we'll have some pretty
strong thunderstorms, but nothing too bad since we're hundreds of miles
inland, and the hurricane is a very small one. Unlike most hurricanes, this
one is headed right for us, so we'll probably be rainy for the next two or
three days.

Alex had a sonogram appointment this morning. Everything checked out fine.
We're having a girl.

The house is ready for the floor installers to come tomorrow. The rail is
entirely off the stairs, as well as the molding. I moved the treadmill
out of my office and into the garage, which was quite difficult since
it weighs well over 100 pounds. Maybe 150.

Got a new battery for my Thinkpad a few days ago, and I won an auction for
a second battery that fits into the Ultrabay 2000 port. With both of these
batteries installed, my laptop should be able to run almost 5 hours.

Alex is off to Canada tomorrow to visit her parents.

We've started ripping out our stairs and railing to prepare for the new
wood steps that are going to be installed next week. We're also probably
going to put in a new stainless steel rail if it's not too expensive.
Photos of the project will be up soon.

Got my table saw put together finally. On the third test run, the nut holding
the blade spun off. I killed the power, but the blade kept spinning. Scared
the hell out of Alex, but it wouldn't have come off, since the blade was
at the highest adjustment.

SARS has been contained. It has been 20 days since a new case was reported.
There is still concern that SARS could come back this winter.
