Audio/Volume control keyboard shortcuts in Xfce configuration
To control the volume settings in Xfce with keyboard shortcuts, you have to assign the following commands in the "Application Shortcuts" section of the "Keyboard" configuration menu to corresponding shortcuts:
amixer set Master 5+ : increase volume
amixer set Master 5- : decrease volume
amixer set Master toggle : mute/unmute volume switch

xfce is so much nicer than KDE. I'm not switching back, ever.

I'm switching to xfce. KDE has been my desktop for several years now, but it's a bloated pig. On my 4 processor system it takes several seconds for the dock to respond to mouse clicks.

Just about ready to give up KDE in favor of xfce4. KDE is too slow and too big. It takes several seconds to respond to mouse clicks. Google isn't helping.
